STANTONSBURG - Elsie Whitley Baker Ritter, 85, formerly of Fremont, died Saturday. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. tonight at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Cemetery, Fremont.
She is survived by three sons; Hilton M. Whitley and wife, Faye, of Stantonsburg, Mack Baker and wife, Glenda, of Morehead City, the Rev. Roger Baker and wife, Diane, of King; one step-daughter, Ellen Sullivan and husband, Roy, of Williamsburg, Va.; two sisters, Mildred Batts and husband, George, of Wilson, and Jeanette Marlowe of Rocky Mount; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Mack D. Baker and Norwood Ritter; her parents, Douglas and Rosa Whitley; two sisters, Sally Ruth Williford and Nina Pearle Walston; four brothers, Edwin, Douglas, Donald, and Kirby Whitley; and one grandson, Mike Baker.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service and at other times at 6115 Holdens Cross Road.
