HAMPTON, VA. -- Daisy Leona Owens, 71, died Thursday. Born in Pikeville, she was the daughter of William and Mabel Smith and had been a Hampton resident since 1955. She retired from NITI after 20 years and was a member of Parkview Church of God.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave., Hampton, by the Rev. Bobby Collins with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Mrs. Owens is survived by her daughter, Sheila Rose Diehl and husband, Gilbert; sons, Billy Dwight Owens and wife, Hazel, Dennis Ray and David Leon Owens, all of Hampton; sisters, Gladys Tilton of Goldsboro, Dorothy Best Smith and Aver Olson and husband, Robert, of Pikeville and Annie Rose Lane of Mount Olive; brothers, Johnny Ray Smith and wife, Nell, of Mount Olive, and George Wade Smith and wife, Ada, of Pikeville; seven grandchildren, Billy Dwight Owens, Jason Owens, Tara Owen, Jordon Robert Owens, Stephen Diehl, Angel Diehl and Christian Diehl; two great-grandchildren, Cameron Tyler Diehl and Lindsay Nicole Diehl; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Owens, parents, and son, Robert Earl Owens.
The family requests memorial donations be sent to Denbigh World Outreach.
