LAGRANGE-Christine Gautier Herring, 84, of 5320 Pauls Path Road, died Friday. Mrs. Herring was born in Beaufort County to the late Frank Gautier Sr. and Nora Powell Gautier. An avid homemaker, Christine had a great love for her family and cooking. She was a member of LaGrange First Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. Interment will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Herring is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jake Thomas Herring Jr.; two sons, Jake Thomas "Sonny" Herring III and wife, Linda, of Kinston, and Joseph Franklin, "Baby Jake," Herring and wife, Sherie, of LaGrange; grandson, Charlie Herring and wife, Lori of Wilson; two great-grandchildren, Caroline P. Herring and Jake M. Herring; two sisters, Ruth Norris and Jean Howard, both of Mount Olive. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Latham; and a brother, Frank Gautier, Jr.
The family will receive friends Sunday following the service and at other times they will be at the home of Frank and Sherie Herring, 5293 Pauls Path Road, LaGrange. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 2210 Millbrook Road, Suite 109, Raleigh, N.C. 27604. Arrangements are with Rouse Funeral Home, LaGrange.
