Died Oct. 5, 2006

Samuel Stevens, 53, 315 Olivia Lane, Goldsboro, died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The Funeral will be Monday at Northeast Chapel Original FWB Church, E. James St., Mount Olive. The Rev. Jessie Warren III and Elder Dennis Joyner will be officiating. The burial will follow in Carver Memorial Park, Mount Olive. The viewing will be Sunday McIntyre Funeral Home, 401 S. Center St., Mount Olive, 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m.

Mr. Stevens was a native of Wayne County, preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Hattie Stevens, and served in the United States Marines Corp.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Best Stevens of the home; two sons, Samuel Best, of Goldsboro, and Demetrel Best, of Goldsboro; two daughters, Lakictia Best, of Goldsboro, Latrel Best, of Goldsboro; five brothers, Bobby Stevens, of Mount Olive, Kerry Lofton, of Mount Olive, Elder Demaris Stevens, of Wilson, Jimmy Stevens, of Mount Olive, Jerry Stevens, of Mount Olive; four sisters, Gwendolyn Stevens, of Mount Olive, Katherine Mumford, of Mount Olive, Brenda Burton, of Goldsboro, Ellen Pou of Fayetteville; and three grandchildren.
