NELTON C. WHITFIELD

LaGrange-Nelton Carter Whitfield, 86, of 6361 US Highway 70 East, died Friday at her home. Mrs. Whitfield was born in Wayne County to the late Emmitt and Hepsie Smith Carter. She was wife of the late James Weston Whitfield and was a member of Walnut Creek Original Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Whitfield worked as a Nurse's Assistant at Guardian Care Nursing Home for 22 years.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony McLamb officiating. Interment will be Monday at 10 a.m. from Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Whitfield is survived by three sons, James Elton Whitfield and wife, Rose, John Wayne Whitfield and wife, Judy, Walter C. "Pee-Wee" Whitfield and wife, Jennifer, all of LaGrange; sister, Viola Smith of Goldsboro; two brothers, Emmitt M. Carter Jr. of LaGrange and Gordon E. Carter and wife, Frances of Pikeville; four grandchildren, Dwayne Whitfield, Kevin Whitfield, Mark Whitfield and Dewayne Grant; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Grant and Lacey Sue Whitfield.
The family will receive friends following the service Sunday and at other times they will be at the home. Arrangements are with Rouse Funeral Home, LaGrange.
