MARY L. COLTRAIN

LAGRANGE -- Mary Letchworth Coltrain, 86, passed away Wednesday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

A celebration of life service will be held tonight at 7 at White Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Stancil officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery.

Mrs. Coltrain was born and reared in the Arba Community of Greene County to the late Marshall and Agnes Letchworth. She was the devoted wife of the late William Edward Coltrain Sr.

She was a loyal and active member of White Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church for many years. She truly enjoyed and loved all the members of her church family and especially looked forward to the Sunday lunches shared with the widows of the church.

Mrs. Coltrain had a passion for painting and has had through the years numerous paintings on display at various exhibits in LaGrange. Her paintings have, and do continue, to serve as a special remembrance and reflection of the love she had for flowers, nature, the coast and simpler times of life to her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Marshall and Agnes Letchworth; husband, William Edward Coltrain Sr.; daughter, Rachel Marie Coltrain; granddaughter, Mary Leigh Coltrain; brothers, Wilbur Letchworth, Berlin Letch-worth, Benny Letchworth, Enock Letchworth and Horace Letchworth; sisters, Hazel Letchworth Jones and Eva Letchworth Fader.

Mrs. Coltrain is survived by her daughter, Edith Coltrain Elmore and husband, Larry; son, William Edward Coltrain Jr. and special friend, Edith Smith; grandchildren, Edward Ivey Coltrain, Donna Elmore Smith, Wendy Elmore Sutton and Billy D. Elmore; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Mallory Williams, Trey Smith, Ashley Leigh Sutton, Brandon S. Sutton, Sawyer Reid Smith and Maci Jo Elmore; brother and sister-in-law, Jesse and Kathryne Coltrain; along with many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends following the service tonight.

Arrangements are being handled by Rouse Funeral Home of La Grange.
