DUNN -- Ellen Elizabeth Jones Hawley, 83, 548 Pope Road, died Tuesday at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Dunn with Dr. Len Keever and the Rev. Jerome Pope officiating. Burial will be in Devotional Gardens in Dunn.

Mrs. Hawley was born Nov. 7, 1922, in Duplin County, the daughter of the late Lewis T. and Mamie Tucker Jones.

She was a retired cafeteria manager with Wayne County School, a member of First Baptist Church of Dunn, the ladies auxiliary of First Baptist Church and the Disabled American Veterans and a former deacon of First Baptist Church of Goldsboro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David McClain Hawley; a daughter, Gayle Hawley Raynor; five sisters, Emily Williford, Mary Teachey, Verna Grady, Louis Otuel and Arlene Jones; and two brothers, Tommy and Palmer Jones.

She is survived by a sister, Isabel Murphy of Kenansville.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Cromartie, Miller and Lee Funeral Home of Dunn. At other times, they will be at the home.
