MARY JORDAN PARRISH

Feb. 15, 1913-Sept. 10, 2006

Mrs. Mary Jordan Parrish of Rosewood passed into eternal life on Sept. 10, 2006. She was born on Feb. 15, 1913, in the White Oak Community of Wayne County, one of 14 children of Richard Whitfield and Flora Lewis Jordan. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 62 years, Jacob Parrish.

Her life of 93 years built a cherished legacy of faith in her Lord, love for family and friends, and courage in the face of many hardships.

Mrs. Parrish is survived by her daughters, Ernestine Edgerton and her husband, John, of Gastonia and Eloise P. Grantham of Rosewood; her son, Jacob Clark Parrish and his wife, Faye, of Goldsboro; along with 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her sisters, Flora J. Godwin and Lizzie J. Gay; and her brothers, Lewis Jordan and Paul Jordan.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 2 p.m. at Rosewood First Baptist Church, where she was a dedicated member. Burial will follow at the Jordan Family Cemetery near White Oak Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Parrish was pre-deceased by three children, Cleo and Mary Lee Parrish, Marilyn B. Burnette and her husband, Johnny, and son-in-law, J.B. Grantham. Deceased brothers and sisters include Leslie, Marvin, Harvey, Ernest, Frank, Whitfield and S.C. Jordan, Savannah J. Davis and Annie J. Bass.

The family will receive friends Monday, Sept. 11, from 6-8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro.
