VELMA W. BARROW
May 14, 1912 -- Aug. 31, 2006
Velma Worthington Barrow, 94, died Thursday evening at Britthaven Nursing Home in Snow Hill. A native of Pitt County, she was born to the late Benjamin Edgar Worthington and Maggie Smith Worthington. She was the widow of the late Alonza Barrow and was an avid homemaker.
Committal services will be held 2 p.m. today at Evergreen Memorial Estates in Grifton.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Barrow was also preceded in death by her children, Robert S. Barrow, Franklin D. Barrow, Brenda Faye Barrow and Dorothy Ann Barrow.
Her surviving family includes her children, Mavis Crawford of Maury, Jean Shingleton of Greenville, Virginia Rhodes of Goldsboro, Mary Alice Herring of Hobe Sound, Fla., Pauline Skorik of Wisconsin, Bobby Barrow and Ronnie Barrow, both of Snow Hill, and Joseph Barrow of Robersonville. She is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren that total 96.
The family is being served by Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service.
