ALBERTSON--Daniel Moseley Howard, 80, of 192 Edward Grady Road, Albertson, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at Lenoir Memorial Hospital on Sunday.

Dan formerly was a long time resident of Pink Hill. He was loved very much and will be greatly missed. Dan served in the U.S. Navy and retired from T.A. Loving Construction Company. He was very active in the Lenoir County Council on Aging, Pink Hill Senior Center site, and served on the Board of Trustees at Outlaws Bridge Universalist Church. Dan was also very active in the rehabilitation program at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Thornton and Maude Westbrook Howard, an infant sister, his first wife and mother of his two daughters, Kazuko Taga Howard. He is survived by his wife Cynthia Jarman Howard of the home; brother, Mitchell Howard of Mount Olive; sister Florence Fowler of Charlotte; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Walt Johnson of Wilson; daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Henry Waters of Kinston; grandchildren, Michael Johnson of Wilson, and Christopher and Alyssa Waters of Kinston; mother-in-law, Adell Jarman of Beulaville; stepdaughters and spouses, Kay and Michael Hinson, and Joy and Larry Williams of Mount Olive; stepson, Preston Howard and fiancé Lisa Batts of Burlington; step-grandchildren and spouses, Sandy and Jason Price of Seven Springs, Clay and Shelly Hinson, and Jeremy and Holly Williams of Mount Olive, and Frankie Williams of Wilmington; step-great-grand children, Raven Brock, Mikayla Price, and Blain Hinson; and several nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Japan.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday from the Outlaws Bridge Universalist Church in Albertson (Highway 111). Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery, Jones County. No formal visitation will be held but the family welcomes visits.

Flowers are welcome as are donations to the Lenoir County Council on Aging, Inc. (designated for the Pink Hill Senior Center), 112 E. Blount Street, Kinston, N.C. 28501.

Arrangements are with Edwards Funeral Home Kinston.
