DICK MATHANY

Dec. 24, 1917-May 22, 2006

Richard Raymond "Dick" Mathany, 88, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Mathany was born in Swanton, Ohio to the late Raymond C. Mathany and Nola Badders Mathany.

He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Jane French Mathany. Mr. Mathany was a retired sales representative for Sun Life Assurance of Canada and was past president of the Saginaw Life Underwriters Association.

He was past master of Demolay and a life member of Saginaw, Michigan Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. Mr. Mathany was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Goldsboro and was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Saginaw, Mich. where he served as a deacon.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ryan Rasmussen officiating. Private entombment will be at Wayne Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife Doris Flowers Mathany; daughter Sharon D. Fitch of Goldsboro; granddaughter Jennifer L. Kwiatkowski of Baltimore, Md.; his step-children, Carol Moffatt and husband, Richard, of Goldsboro; Mary Sue Embrey, of Carolina Beach; and Michael Jennette and wife Tara, of Wake Forest; his sister Yvonne Long, of Tampa, Fla.; his brother, Lawrence Mathany of Cheboygan, Mich.; and his step-grandchildren, Melissa Kelsey and husband, Brian; William Fitch and wife Beth; Terrance B. Fitch II and wife Diana; Katie Motes and husband Rick; Beau Moffatt and wife Daisy; Melissa Embrey; Wayne Embrey; Benjamin Jennette and Mallory Jennette; and his step-great-grandchildren, Alexander Kelsey, Nathan Kelsey, Joshua Kelsey, Ginny Motes, Sarah Motes and Zeb Motes.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 1101 E. Ash Street, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530 or to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Duke University Health System, 932 Morreene Road, Durham, N.C. 27705.

The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
