Lydia Forehand Sykes Hawley, 85, died April 27, 2006, at Kitty Askins in Goldsboro.

Born on August 15, 1920, in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Della Pate Forehand. She was the widow of Willie C. Sykes and was also preceded in death by her second husband, Levie L. Hawley. She was a member of the Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

She was a precious lady who lived a simple life, loved God, her family and her church.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucy Suggs; Smithey Cuddington and Ruby Pate; and four brothers, Luther Forehand; Tommy Forehand; Luby Forehand and Frank C. Forehand.

She is survived by a sister, Minnie Lee Ginn of Pikeville; two daughters, Brenda Gail Bissette and husband, Neily, of Seattle, Wash., and Willette Davis and husband, Leon, of Pikeville; seven grandchildren, Amy Harrison and husband, Doug, of Goldsboro; Ashley Davis of Pikeville; Mimi Vest and husband Greg, Marti Archer; Micah Bissette and wife Becky; Mari-Lydia Williams and husband Joey, all of Kingsport, Tenn., and Miriam Revette and husband Jeremy of Morton, Miss.; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a stepdaughter, Linda Truitt and husband George; a step-grandson, Chris Truitt and wife Lisa and two step-great-grandchildren of Millsboro, Del.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Pikeville PFWB Church, with a graveside service following at the Forehand Cemetery in Pikeville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the church building fund or to the Kitty Askins in Goldsboro.
