Died April 24, 2006

KINSTON --The funeral for Willie Hawkins, 77, of 2330 Rouse Road Extension, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Mills Funeral Home. The Rev. Jessie Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Mills Memorial Garden.

Mr. Hawkins died Monday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by four daughters, Jacquelin Roper of Charlotte, Peggy McPhail, Mamie Hawkins and Cassandra Maye of Kinston; and three sons, Willie R. Hawkins of Waldorf, Md., Amos Hawkins of Kinston and Reginald Hawkins of Mount Vernon, N.Y.; his mother, Eva Mae Hawkins of Kinston; five sisters, Byrtle Mitchell of Fort Barnwell, Nancy Paul of Long Island, N.Y., Lula Sutton of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Dorothy Hill and Holland Hawkins of Kinston; seven brothers, Rufus Hawkins Jr., of Fort Barnwell, Johnny Hawkins of Darlington, S.C., Joseph Hawkins of St. Albany, N.Y., Robert Hawkins of Kinston, Jimmy Hawkins of Wine Dance, N.Y., Dempsey Hawkins of Goldsboro and Gerald Hawkins of Elmhurst, N.Y.; and 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The viewing hours will be from 3 until 8 today at Mills funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the home of Bernice Hawkins at 300 Wilson Avenue.
