CHARLES L. KANNAN

June 11, 1948-March 26, 2006

Charles Louis Kannan, 57, of Nashville, N.C., died on Sunday, March 26, 2006, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend to so many.

Charles was born in Goldsboro, N.C., on June 11, 1948, to Marguerite Rabil Kannan and the late Louis Joseph Kannan, and grew up in Franklin, Va. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. Upon graduation, he taught and coached at Southampton Academy in Courtland, Va., and for the last several years worked in sales with Brame Specialty Company in Rocky Mount, N.C.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Baddour Kannan; one son, Matthew of Wilmington, N.C., and a daughter, Mariam of the home. He is also survived by three brothers, Bob Kannan, and wife Peggy, Joey Kannan and wife Bess of Franklin, Va., and Allen Kannan, and wife Lori of Wake Forest; two sisters, Madeline Marks and husband Dale, and Theresa Kannan of Franklin, Va.

Charles was an avid golfer and a life-long fan of Tar Heel Basketball. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by all.

A rosary was said at 5 p.m. Monday, with visitation following from 7 to 9 p.m. at Johnson Funerals and Cremations in Rocky Mount.

A funeral mass will be held today at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Rocky Mount. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Franklin, Va..
