RICHARD HOWELL

Richard Bowden "R.B." Howell, 74, of Mar Mac, died Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Howell was born in Johnston County and was the son of the late Richard Allen Howell and Kizzie Williford Howell. He attended Riverside Free Will Baptist Church in Princeton as his health permitted and was a retired employee of the State of North Carolina. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and was a recipient of the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal; Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star and the Good Conduct Medal.

He is survived by two daughters, Pamela Ingram of Beaufort and her fiancé, Gordon Miller, of Virginia and Susan Skrovan and her husband, Richard, of Grantham; two sisters, Leasie Glass of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Christine Howell Monds, of Dublin, Ga; five grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon Elps; Josh, Ricky and Eddie Skrovan; one great-grandchild, Maddux Lewis; a special niece, Linda Benson Fields of Grantham; a special friend, Edna Holland of Goldsboro; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
