MELVIN DIXON

PRINCETON -- Melvin Dixon, 80, died Thursday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

The funeral will be held by the graveside on Saturday morning at 11 at Princeton Cemetery. The Rev. Dennis Pollock will conduct the service.

Mr. Dixon was a native of Johnston County and was the son of the late Edgar and Agnes Johnson Dixon.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Evans Dixon; two daughters, Elizabeth Casey of Garner and Gail Holloway of Wilmington; four sons, Durwood Dixon of Four Oaks, Wayne Dixon of Goldsboro and Danny Ray Dixon and Allan Dixon of Princeton; one stepdaughter, Carolyn Brown of Clayton; four sisters, Mable Jones, Martha Ellen Good, Marie Day and Morna Lee Morris of Princeton; one brother, Oscar Dixon of Princeton; and 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dusty Dixon, and two grandchildren, Samantha Dixon and Scott Womble.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Parrish Funeral Home in Princeton.
