Charles Franklin "Frank" Knowles, 83, died Sunday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Sutton and the Rev. Rick Whaley officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be on Friday at 1 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Knowles was born in Wayne County to the late Charles H. Knowles and Nannie Lawhon Knowles. A United States Air Force veteran of World War II, he retired from Kemp Furniture and later worked at Ryan's Steakhouse and Wal-Mart.

He is survived by one brother, Alee Knowles, and his wife, Lupe, of Arizona; and his special niece, Virginia Byrd of Goldsboro, with whom he lived.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, James Knowles, and his sister, Margaret Hardison.

The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home following the service on Thursday night, and other times at the home at 3202 Summit Road, Goldsboro.
