ARNOLD R. TINGEN

SNOW HILL -- Mr. Arnold Russell "Rusty" Tingen, age 56, was called to his eternal home in Heaven on Sunday, October 9, 2005.

Rusty was a loving husband, father and a special "Poppy" to his grandchildren. Born October 24, 1948, the son of the late, Arnold Ruffin and Martha Manning Tingen, Rusty lived most of his life in Greene County. Following graduation from Greene Central High School in 1967, he served his country for over three years during the Vietnam Conflict in the US Air Force. He continued his service in the National Guard, for many years in Snow Hill, and then transferred to the US Air Force Reserves from which he retired. Rusty had retired from Sprint Telephone Company following many years with them as a repairman and was enjoying his avid love of fishing and newly acquired hobby of golf.

A member of Free Gospel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, Rusty was a Christian whom loved his Lord and his church. At Free Gospel he served as a Deacon, chartered the church's Royal Rangers Youth Program and served in various other church offices and committees. He truly strived to live a life of Christian example to his family and fellow man.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Free Gospel PFWB Church with the Reverend Gerald Hollamon and Reverend Gary Tingen officiating. Interment will follow at the Snow Hill Cemetery with the Snow Hill VFW providing honors to a fellow member.

Rusty's surviving family includes his beloved wife, Rachel Gay Tingen of the home; children, Brian Tingen and wife, Michelle, Stephanie Tingen Diener and husband, Bert, and Shawna Tingen Wooten and husband, Everett all of Snow Hill; grandchildren, Madison Tingen, Perry Tingen, Sarah Hope Diener, Celia Grace Diener and Ele Wooten; his sister, Terri Tingen of Chicago; and brother, Reverend Gary Tingen and wife, Susan of Snow Hill.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service and other times at the residence, 104 Edgemont Drive, Snow Hill.
