CLINTON -- Dawn West Cannady, 59, of 308 Pineview Road, died Friday at her home.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Grove Park Baptist Church. The Rev. Michael Shook will officiate. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born in 1946 in Sampson County, Mrs. Cannady was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church, a former employee with the Department of Social Services, co-owner of the Cinnamon Stick, and an employee with Campbell Gas & Oil Company. She was a graduate of Mount Olive College with a degree in business. She was the chairperson for the American Cancer Society Sampson County Relay for Life.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Winston Cannady; one daughter, Terri Byrd of Clinton; one son, Scott Cannady of Goldsboro; her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Stacy West of Clinton; two sisters, Cindi West Norris of Clinton and Denise Scronce of Clinton; one granddaughter; two nieces; and one nephew.

The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 at the Royal-Hall Funeral Home, and other times at her home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sampson County Relay for Life, c/o Mike Lanier, 207 W. Arrowhead Dr., Clinton, N.C., 28328, or to the Community Home Care & Hospice, 216 Beaman St., Clinton, N.C., 28328.
