C.W. WILSON

Carroll "C.W." W. Wilson, 83, of Morrisville, N.C., died Saturday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. He was born in Granville County to the late Adcus Bryant and Esther Bragg Wilson. A veteran of the United States Navy, he proudly served in the Pacific Theater as a crewman. He retired with the State of North Carolina as a Jail Inspector.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved to take long walks, ride dirtbikes and motorcycles, and go hunting. He attended Duke University on a football scholarship which was interrupted by his service in War World II. After his discharge from the Navy, he completed his education at East Carolina University. He was a member of the American Rifle Association and the ECU Alumni Association.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by one son, Steve Wilson and wife, Lisa of Minnesota; four daughters, Pam Talbert of Texas, Jan King of Charlotte, Allyson Phillips and husband, Glenn of Goldsboro, and Kim Dillard of Georgia; one sister, Armagene Tharrington of Raleigh; 14 grandchildren, Paul Wilson, Shannon Wilson, Brian Wilson, Mark Wilson, Michaela Wilson, Hannah Wilson, Grace Wilson, Brooke Talbert, Brittany Talbert, Shea King Green, Josh Phillips, Rob Phillips, Chelsey Dillard and Wesley Dillard; and one great-grandchild, Dillon Green.

The family will be receiving friends Tuesday evening from 7 until 8:30 at the First Baptist Church Elsie R. Hooks Fellowship Hall and Saturday from 2 until 4 p.m. at the Greenwood Forest Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Cary.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Honor the Dream Campaign at First Baptist Church, 125 S. John St., Goldsboro N.C. 27530; the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Dr., Greenville, N.C. 27834; or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Ct., Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
