GILBERT P. BAKER

Gilbert Pierce Baker, 84, died Thursday at the home of his niece in Ellijay, Georgia.

A graveside service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with the Rev. Don Stewart officiating.

Mr. Baker was born in Fulton County, Ga., on May 24, 1921, to the late Hill O. Baker and Mallie Wilson Baker. He was married to the late Doris Forehand Baker. Mr. Baker was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and a retired brick mason. He attended Westwood United Methodist Church.

He is survived by three brothers, Hill O. Baker Jr. of San Antonio, Fla.., John Melvin Baker of Jonesboro, Ga., and Spence Kennedy Baker of Doraville, Ga.; three sisters-in-law, Ruby F. Braswell and Hazel F. Albert of Goldsboro and Ruth F. Fisher of New Bern; one brother-in-law, James E. "Buddy" Forehand of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Marian Tackett of Ellijay, Ga..

The family will greet friends Sunday following the graveside service at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Westwood United Methodist Church, 130 Short St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
