PHILIP W. ROUSE

LAGRANGE -- Philip Weitzell Rouse, 84, of 406 North Caswell St., died today at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Mr. Rouse was born in Lenoir County to the late John H. Rouse Sr. and Willie Croom Rouse. He served a lifelong career at Rouse Funeral Home, following in the footsteps of his father and brothers. From the start of his career in his early teenage years, he dedicated his life to serving the people of LaGrange and surrounding areas and remained an active part of Rouse Funeral Home for over 65 years. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II and retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a member of Lenoir Masonic Lodge #233 for over 50 years.

Mr. Rouse is survived by his wife, Ruth Jones Rouse; one daughter, Lucy Rouse Warren and husband Bill of Goldsboro; one son, Hal Rouse and wife Pam of Raleigh; six grandchildren, Willis Warren, Ellen Warren Grisette and husband, Layton, Chancey Rouse, Ashley Rouse, Samantha Rouse and Carson Rouse; one sister, Elizabeth Thomas of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one brother, Bob Rouse and wife Jo of LaGrange; and a sister-in-law, Caroline T. Rouse of Greenville.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Warren, 109 Meadowlark Road, Goldsboro.
