RUTH F. LEDER

RALEIGH -- Ruth Fleishman Leder, 86, formerly of Clinton, died Tuesday.

She was the widow of Joseph Leder, who owned Leder Brothers Department Stores along with his brothers. She worked at the store in Clinton for 48 years. After her retirement, Mrs. Leder traveled extensively, including seven trips to Israel.

She was a member and former president of Clinton Woman's Club and was a lifelong member of Hadassah, the woman's Zionist organization. In 1988, she was honored in Israel as a "Founder of Hadassah" for her top-level support of the Hadassah Medical Organization. She also was honored as a "Lion of Judah," a tribute given to women who generously donate to the Jewish Federation.

She is survived by two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held at Beth Israel Synagogue in Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the E. Martin Leder Scholarship Fund at Clinton High School, c/o Dale Johnson, P.O. Box 1040, Clinton, NC 28328; or to ones' favorite memorial or charity.
