FAISON -- Mavis W. King, 70, of 7595 Suttontown Road, died Tuesday.

The funeral will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Goshen New Life International Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating ministers will be her brother, the Rev. Jimmy Whitfield of Goldsboro, and the Reverends Ralph Jernigan and Stanley King. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park, Goldsboro.

Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel H. King; her parents, Albert and Ella Mae Hudson Whitfield; and one sister and two brothers.

Surviving, in addition to Rev. Whitfield, are four daughters, Karen Carney of Holden Beach, Rita Kinzalow of Sweetwater, Tenn., Rebecca Gordon of Hillsborough and Diane Mitchell of Raleigh; three other brothers, Lorenzo Whitfield of Newton Grove, the Rev. Marvin R. Whitfield of Clinton, and Burval Whitfield of Mount Olive; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at West & Dunn Funeral Home in Newton Grove.
