ANDREW SHEPARD

Andrew Leon Shepard, 88, 138 Slick Rock Road, died Sunday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ray Smeltzer officiating. Burial, with Masonic rites, will be in Westview Cemetery in Kinston.

A native of Onslow County, Mr. Shepard, was the son of the late Fred and Maude Williams Shepard. He worked in construction and lawn maintenance before retiring and was an active member of Adamsville Baptist Church. He also was member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge #112 A.F. & A.M., which honored him with his 50-year pin in 2004, and was a member of the York Rite and the Wayne Shrine Club.

Mr. Shepard is survived by his wife, Louise Smith Shepard; three daughters, Edna Johnson and husband Dean of LaGrange, Joyce Daughtery and husband Joe of Goldsboro and Debbie Rhodes and husband David of Goldsboro; one sister, Swannie May Sanderson of Richlands; his grandchildren, Jeff Williams and wife Andrea of Virginia, Missy Hardy and husband Todd of Kinston, Kathi Taylor and husband Jeff of Pikeville, Daryl Johnson and wife April of Greenville, Angie Sanders and husband Clint of Greenville, Tiffany Rhodes of Goldsboro, Lisa Mercer and husband Brad of Winterville, Jennifer Stamatis and husband Tim of Goldsboro, Krystal Daughtery of Winterville, and Heather Daughtery of Goldsboro; and his great-grandchildren, Blake and Kristina Hardy of Kinston, Logan Taylor of Pikeville, Kaylee Johnson of Greenville, Alansyn Sanders of Greenville, and Justin Stamatis of Texas.

He is also survived by a special nephew, John Morton and his wife Nora of Goldsboro; his step-children, Emory Daly and wife Joan of Goldsboro, Clyde Daly and wife Mary of Goldsboro and Linda Sutton and husband Phil of LaGrange; his step-grandchildren, Sherwood Daly and wife Joanne, Brian Daly and wife Jessica, Charlene Grant and husband Terry, and Christie Keel and husband Rodney; and his step-great-grandchildren, Brittany Daly, Taylor Daly, Scott Mason, Rebecca Mason, Alan Newcomb, Adam Newcomb, Scott Grant and Krystal Grant.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Shepard; two daughters, Dorothy Williams and Betty Morton; and one brother, Earl Shepard.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the home
