William Johnson Jr. 77, of 100 Trappers Run Drive, died Friday, November 5, at 5:45 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Pentecostal Holy Church, 600 E. Pine Street, Goldsboro. Burial will be at Johnson Chapel Cemetery on Arrington Bridge Road, Dudley.

Mr. Johnson was born in Lenoir County and in later years moved to Wayne County. He worked and retired at Cherry Hospital after 30 years.

Mr. Johnson owned and operated Johnson's Monument and Sandblasting Company for 32 years. Even in failing health, he remained active in the business until his death.

He was an active member of Johnson Chapel United Holy Church in Dudley where he served as a Trustee, Deacon and Finance Committee Member.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary Mason and Sandra Gail Johnson; two brothers, A.J. Johnson and Odell Johnson.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 59 years, Louise Flanagan Johnson; four daughters, Katie Walker (Julius) of Roper, N.C.; Linda Tillery (Edward) of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; Dr. Sadie Carter (Nelson) of Newport News, Va.; and Rhonda Floyd (Isaiah) of Goldsboro, N.C.; one sister, Helen Hamlin; two brothers, Rev. Leroy Johnson of Dudley, N.C., and Boyzell Johnson of Goldsboro, N.C.; one foster uncle, Melvin Griffin of Mount Olive, N.C.; ten grandchildren, Shawn Walker Sr., Kendra Walker Powell, Dr. Neema Tillery Randall, Attorney Jani Tillery, Leah Tillery, Nakisha Floyd, Kris Floyd, Kurt Floyd, Honesty Floyd and Dr. Cimone Carter; five great-grandchildren; seven sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The viewing will be from 3 until 9 on Tuesday, November 9. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel on James Street, Goldsboro, and other times at the home.
