RUTHIE T. RAPER

Ruthie Thorne Raper, 84, of 400 S. Oleander Ave., died Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m.. at the First Baptist Church. Dr. Glenn Phillips will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Wilson.

Mrs. Raper was born in Wilson County to the late Berry and Ida Mae Brewer Thorne and was married to the late James Henry Raper. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Goldsboro.

Her survivors include one son, Charles V. Raper of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Elsie Hooks of Goldsboro; one brother, Randolph Thorne of Goldsboro; four sisters, Hazel Williams of Bailey, Maudie Cook, Nell Moore and Doris Armstrong, all of Wilson; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by two sons, James Earl Raper and Sidney Wayne Raper.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 125 S. John St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530; or to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
