IRENE D. PHILLIPS

KINSTON -- Irene Dawson Phillips, 80, of 115 S. Trianon St., died Sunday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. John Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Randolph Koonce officiating. Interment will be in Southview Cemetery

Mrs. Phillips retired as a cook and female attendant with Lenoir County Sheriff's Department.

She is survived by her husband, William Phillips of Kinston; three daughters, Madgie Louise Koonce of Far Rockaway, N.Y., Helen Dawson of the home and Pat Joyner of Greensboro; one son, Roland Dawson of Bronx, N.Y.; one sister, Ava Mae Davis Jones of Kinston; one brother, Sigmond Davis of Baltimore; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends today 6 until 7 at Loftin Funeral Home, and at the church one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday.
