ERNEST HODGE

SMITHFIELD -- Ernest Virgil Hodge, 89, of 80 Brogden School Road, died Saturday at his home.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Coley Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Dennis Pollock and the Rev. Rick McDuffie will officiate. Burial will follow in the Center Ridge Church Cemetery.

Mr. Hodge was preceded in death by his parents, George Allen and Naomi Adkinson Hodge, and his wife, Hazel Godwin Hodge.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Hodge; one daughter, Phyllis Prosise of Raleigh; four sons, E.V. Hodge Jr. of Raleigh, Allen Hodge of Garner, Ralph Hodge of Kenly, Al Hodge of Little Washington; two stepdaughters, Judy Massey of Princeton, and Deborah Godwin of Selma; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 until 5 p.m. at Coley Funeral Home.
