WILLIE GURGANUS

Willie James Gurganus, 72, of 585 Forest Knolls Road, died Thursday at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

The funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. The Rev. Fred Carraway will officiate. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Gurganus was born in Duplin County and was the son of the late John C. and Irene Winders Gurganus.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Pearl Grady Gurganus; his children and their spouses, Annie G. and Cedric Jackson of LaGrange, Diane and Mark Buchanan of Goldsboro, Leonard and Deanna Gurganus of Goldsboro and Kenneth and Tania Gurganus of Goldsboro; 10 grandchildren, Donnie Gurganus of Butner, Curtis Campbell of West Virginia, Eluxious Gurganus, April Campbell, Mason Campbell, Duane Gurganus, Cory Cordell and Cindy Blanton, all of Goldsboro, Eddie Gurganus of Kentucky, and John Calvin Gurganus of Missouri; 12 great-grandchildren, Kanique Gurganus of Morrisville, Rakim Floyd, Jasmine Thigpen, Anthony Murphy, Gebria Gray and Brittany Gray, all of Goldsboro, Dylan Campbell of Dudley, Eric Campbell, Brooke Campbell and Tyler Johnson of West Virginia and Ellis Campbell and Airel Campbell of Goldsboro; two brothers, Ervin Gurganus and Danny Gurganus of Goldsboro; seven sisters, Beulah Howell, Mildred Cannon and Dolly Camaioni of Goldsboro, Linda Pender of Pine Level, Inez Brock of Faison, Betty Reinhard of Dudley and Dorothy Porter of Cleveland, Ohio; and 33 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Gurganus and Junior Gurganus.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and on Monday at the Salvation Army Fellowship Hall, 610, N. William St., immediately following the committal service. At other times they receive friends at the residence.
