GARVEY ALSTON
Garvey Alston, 83, formerly of Goldsboro, died Thursday, June 17, at Fort Washington Hospital in Washington, D.C.
A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, June 24, at 10 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 900 Delaware Ave., Southwest, Washington, D.C.
Mr. Alston is survived by his wife, Betty L. Alston; five sons, Marshall Alston (Val) of Brooklyn, N.Y., William R. Alston (Sandra) of Goldsboro, Roger Alston, Gary Alston (Alisia) and Marvin Alston of Washington, D.C.; four daughters, Rachel L. Alston of Stone Mountain, Ga., Janice F. Robinson (Donnie ) of Teheran and Jo Ann Alston and April Ayres of Washington, D.C.; 30 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marie Alston and Hiawathia Alston of Bayshore, N.Y., and Lafayette Wade and Cora Alston of Goldsboro; andtwo brothers, George Alston of Bay Shore, N.Y., and Curtis Alston of Goldsboro.
A son, Eugene Alston, preceded him in death.
