The 4th Fighter Wing will conduct a major accident response exercise Wednesday at 8 a.m.

Traffic congestion near Seymour Johnson Air Force Base is expected.

According to a SJAFB press release, the installation may operate under an increased level of force protection during the exercise. Residents may notice increased noise, emergency response vehicles and congestion around the base, which may cause gate closures and delays.

The exercise is designed to strengthen the 4th Fighter Wing's ability to respond to real-world disasters or attacks, and will involve SJAFB medical personnel, first responders and Wayne UNC Health Care emergency services.
