A bullet lodged in the kitchen floor of a North Carolina Street residence Saturday was intended for someone else, according to a Goldsboro police report.

The shots came from a passing vehicle at the nearby intersection of North George and Fussell streets at 3:20 p.m.

Jeremey Adam Williams, 34, of 1300 N. Carolina St. reported the shooting to police. Investigators found that a bullet entered through the east side of the residence and continued into the kitchen, striking several food items before settling into the kitchen floor.

Maj. Anthony Carmon said the bullet that entered the home was a stray fired in the direction of the house, but intended for someone else.

"The way the patrolmen were able to determine it, that no, it was not someone firing into the residence," he said.

According to the police report, witnesses could only describe a black car and not the driver or the passengers. The intended target of the shooting is listed only as an "unknown person."
