Wayne Community College Allied Health courses to start Wednesday

Wayne Community College Continuing Education Services will offer several Allied Health courses this summer.
"Health Unit Secretary," a hybrid class (classroom and online), will be held on Tuesdays, May 29-July 31. "Medication Aide" (for skilled facilities) is set for Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, Aug. 16-28. A "Nurse Aide Refresher" class will be held Mondays and Wednesdays, June 4-27.
The two courses required to earn a Medical Billing/Coding Certificate -- "Medical Terminology with Basic Anatomy and Physiology" and "Medical Billing and Coding with Legal Issues" -- will be taught online May 16 -Aug. 17.
A new course designed for those who desire to learn to give medications in adult care homes, assisted living facilities and group homes is also on the schedule. "Med Tech State Exam Prep" prepares students for the Medication Administration Exam under the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services Division of Health Services Regulation-Adult Care Licensure Section.
The med tech class will be held July 23, 25 and 31 and Aug. 1. Current listing on the N.C. Nurse Aide I registry may be required by some hiring agencies, but it is not required to register for the course.
