Brenda Wilkens pulls weeds from what will become a flower garden outside the building at Herman Park between the Herman Park Center and the Wayne County Library, which is being converted into a new senior center. Volunteers began work in the yard and painting inside the building on Monday. The building will contain rooms for senior activities such as painting, playing cards and using computers. Other activities requiring more space, such as line dancing, will continue to be held at the Herman Park Center.
