Soccer

BEULAVILLE -- Shakia Doctor scored a hat trick (three goals) as Goldsboro defeated East Central 2A neighbor East Duplin, 4-1, on Tuesday.

Hannah Williamson also found the net for GHS (4-2, 1-1 EC 2A), while McKayla Roberts and Tziah Kelly each registered an assist.

GHS travels to face Clinton on Friday.

Princeton 4,

Hobbton 3

NEWTON GROVE -- Barton College commit Allie Britt scored two goals as Princeton turned back Carolina 1A foe Hobbton on Tuesday.

Sophomore Veronica Blackman also found the net for the Bulldogs, while Esbeydy Bautista tendered a goal and an assist.

Princeton now stands 4-1 on the season, and 2-1 in league play.

West Johnston 3,

C.B. Aycock 3

PIKEVILLE -- Brie Stephens, Hannah Spier and Colleen Jones each scored as Charles B. Aycock forged a draw with West Johnston on Tuesday.

Junior Morgan Casey registered an assist for the Golden Falcons, while keeper Mckenzie Norris tallied 18 saves in goal.

CBA (2-3-2 overall) plays host to ECC 3A and county rival Eastern Wayne on Friday.

Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Softball

East Duplin 10,

Goldsboro 0

BEULAVILLE -- Taylor Jones struck out nine in five innings as East Duplin blanked league foe Goldsboro, 10-0, on Tuesday.

GHS (1-5, 1-1 East Central 2A) travels to Clinton on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Norwayne 13,

Mount Olive 2 (5 Inn.)

FREMONT -- Austin Dilda, DJ Madrigal, Tyler Horton, Logan Lawhorn and Cameron Dearing worked in concert on Monday, overpowering Mount Olive en route to a 13-2 landslide victory.

Dearing earned the victory, and was supported offensively by Austin Booth and Cameron Aycock, who filed two hit apiece. In total, nine Cobra batsmen reached base.

Norwayne (4-0) travels to face Eastern Wayne today.
