PIKEVILLE --  Blake Dilda and Nolan Harrell enjoyed profitable outings at the plate on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough to propel Charles B. Aycock past ECC foe D.H. Conley.

The 8-5 setback moved the Golden Falcons to 6-2 overall this season, and 1-2 in league play.

Dilda finished the affair with a pair of doubles, while Harrell went 1 for 3 with two RBI. Nick Aycock registered a pair of base hits for CBA, as did starting pitcher Cody Whaley, who went 1 for 3 with two RBI.

Whaley (3-1) also absorbed the loss for the hosts, allowing four runs in five innings while striking out two. Fellow senior Jordan Gay appeared in relief, giving up four runs on six hits in two frames of work.

CBA returns to the diamond on Friday, when it plays host to league and county rival Eastern Wayne.

First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Baseball

WCDS 7, Freedom Christian 3

Amane Godo connected for three RBI and tossed 6 2⁄3 innings of four-hit baseball as Wayne Country Day turned back Freedom Christian, 7-3, on Monday.

Tanner Willman and Ryan Hopes added two base hits apiece for the Chargers, who moved to 4-1 on the season.

Wayne Country Day returns to the diamond today in Wilson, when it faces rival Greenfield at Fleming Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Softball

Rosewood 10,

Nash Central 0

Kaitlyn Kincaid scattered three hits over five innings, Toree Marak went 2 for 3 with two RBI and Rosewood shellacked visiting Nash Central, 10-0, on Monday.

The victory moved RHS to 2-3 on the season.

Alyssa Smothers also shined at the plate, going 1 for 3 with two RBI.

Macy Tyndall and Laine Marak rounded out the onslaught by combining for a pair of base hits and three RBI.

Wayne Christian 21,

Community Christian 0

Bri Verme struck out nine and had an inside-the-park home run during Wayne Christian's 21-0 rout of Community Christian School on Monday.

Alyssa James also had an inside-the-park homer, while Abigail Kornegay and Leah Boswell finished with extra-base hits

NEW BERN -- Eastern Wayne fell to ECC 3A rival New Bern on Monday by a 6-3 margin.
