BAILEY -- Shyquell Kornegay's hat trick (three goals) spurred Southern Wayne to a 3-nil victory on Wednesday in opening-round action of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3-A soccer playoffs.
Kornegay's middle strike was assisted by Genaro Morales.
Now 9-10-2 overall, Southern Wayne awaits the winner of Gray's Creek and Northern Durham on Saturday.
