WINTERVILLE -- Pitt County Post 39 swatted three home runs during its 17-3, weather-shortened triumph over Wayne County Post 11 on the Pitt Community College diamond Wednesday evening.
Officials called the game after 4 1/2 innings due to lightning in the area.
Tyler Daniels, Kolby Harris (RBI), Nolan Harrell and Lance Wise (RBI) each had a hit for Post 11. Wise connected on a one-out RBI double in the third inning. Harris supplied a one-out RBI double in the fifth.
Harris took the pitching loss.
Wayne County (5-6 overall) endured its fourth loss in its last five outings and tumbled from the unbeaten ranks in Area I East Division play. Post 11 is the guest of Farmville today and visits nemesis Wilson Post 13 on Sunday.
Each game starts at 7 p.m.
