STATE GAMES -- Region 2

GREENSBORO -- Cody Whaley and Jonathan Peacock combined for a shutout as Region 2 claimed a 5-0 victory over Region 4 in opening-round bracket play of the 2017 Powerade State Games of North Carolina on Thursday morning.
Whaley hurled four innings and earned the mound win. Peacock notched the save with two innings of relief work.
Jack Casbarro batted 1-for-2.
Region 2 returns to action this morning at 10 o'clock against Region 8 on the UNC Greensboro campus.
