GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Saints fall to New Bern

Samiya Bess delivered a double-double -- 22 points, 13 rebounds -- during Southern Wayne's 61-45 romp over New Bern in an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference clash Friday evening.
Bess also blocked three shots.
Nadia Chestnutt added 10 points. Kiara Wallace and Iyahna Bess (12 rebounds) pumped in nine points apiece.
The Saints (8-10 overall, 2-4 ECC) begin second-half conference play Tuesday at county rival Charles B. Aycock.
