PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock prevailed at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles, and handed Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference foe J.H. Rose a 6-3 loss on the Luke Vail Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon.

The Golden Falcons' No. 2 tandem of Meredith Jones-Michaela Boyd defeated the Rampants' Sara Young-Mary Tate Teaney 8-4. The third-seeded duo of Grayson Lane-Abbie Shackleford claimed an 8-2 win over Katie Edwards-Brianna Alligood.

CBA led 4-2 after singles.

Jones, Boyd, Hannah Tyndall and Lexi Reeves each emerged victorious in straight-set fashion.

"We showed today that we could play a tough competitor and win," Golden Falcons head coach Gene Stancil said.

C.B. Aycock (5-4 overall, 2-3 ECC) entertains county rival Eastern Wayne on Tuesday.
