WILSON -- Charles B. Aycock seized all three doubles points and cruised past Beddingfield, 7-2, on day two of the inaugural Wilson Cup contested at Barton College.
The tandems of Meredith Jones-Hannah Tyndall, Haley Creech-Grayson Lane and Lexi Reeves-Michaela Boyd each earned a doubles point.
Abby Shackleford, Sophia Gumbish, Lauren Smith and Boyd each prevailed in singles action. Smith claimed a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7) victory over the Bruins' Savannah Barberio at the No. 5 flight. Three matches were decided by a third-set tiebreaker.
"We played the doubles first and won all three so I moved the lineup down some and took out my first three starters singles so I could see some of my new players in competition," said second-year CBA head coach Gene Stancil.
"They all did really good. It was so evenly matched we could have been there all night."
C.B. Aycock (1-1 overall) returns to action Saturday.
