ECBL: Wilson Fike Blue takes two from WCDS

WILSON -- Wilson Fike Blue swept Wayne Country Day, 5-2 and 3-2, in an Eastern Carolina Baseball League doubleheader contested at Boyette Field on the Fike High School campus Thursday evening.
WCDS managed five hits -- one each by Jack Talton, Cole Brewer, Jaxon Anderson, Amane Godo and Stalen Massengill in the opener. Brewer drove in two runs, while Godo contributed an RBI.
Tanner Willman started on the bump and surrendered four runs (three earned) on four hits. Talton tossed one inning of two-hit, one-strikeout relief. Caleb Brewer and Case Kermode combined to throw one.
Fike had seven hits.
In the nightcap, Massengill (RBI) cranked out a double and Kermode connected on a triple. Cole Brewer and Josh Gross each had one hit, while Godo supplied an RBI.
John Strickland endured the mound loss. He yielded three runs (one earned) on five hits, walked three and struck out four Fike batters in 4 2/3 innings of action.
Wayne Country Day (5-3 overall) returns home Monday to face Eastern Wayne.
