Wayne County Day 6, Eastern Wayne 5

* Mitch Turnage squelched a seventh-inning rally, and Wayne Country Day upended Eastern Wayne, 6-5, in an Eastern Carolina Baseball League game contested Monday afternoon.

Strickland relieved Amane Godo, who worked five solid innings and cranked out two hits on offense. Middle reliever John Strickland tossed one inning. Turnage threw the final inning to get the save.

The trio combined for nine strikeouts.

Jason Mitchell's two-RBI double put the Warriors ahead early.

Strickland answered with a game-tying two-RBI double and the Chargers moved in front on Zach Barfield's yard-clearing, two-RBI home run. It was Barfield's first career home run.

Tanner Bradley and Mitch Turnage each had two hits for WCDS.

Eastern Wayne pulled to within 6-5 on Jacob Ginn's three-run HR.

The Chargers continue play today at North Lenoir, while Eastern Wayne is the guest of Southern Wayne Blue.

Goldsboro 11, Wilson Fike White 4

* WILSON -- Josh Hartsfield emerged as the winning pitcher during Goldsboro's 11-4 conquest of ECBL foe Wilson Fike White at Ferrell Field on Monday evening.

Cameron Roux collected a team-high three hits. Chandler Patrick and Brody Morton provided two hits apiece for the Cougars. Elijah Curtis and Austin Ruiz each supplied one hit.

The Cougars return home today against South Lenoir. First pitch is 6 p.m. at Mina Weil Park.

Spring Creek 6, Greene Central Red 2

* SEVEN SPRINGS -- Casey Whitfield delivered a two-hit outing as Spring Creek defeated Greene Central Red, 6-2, in an ECBL battle at "The Swamp" on Monday evening.

Jordan Amon and Kevin Grady each drove in a run for the Gators, who improved to 4-4 overall this season.

Austin Reynolds yielded one unearned on one hit and retired three GC batters on strikeouts in a four-inning stint. He emerged as the winning pitcher.

Jensen Barwick claimed the save with three innings of two-hit, three-strikeout relief.

Spring Creek returns to action Wednesday at Wilson Fike Blue. The teams will play a doubleheader.
