WCDS honors athletes
Athletes were honored with a season-ending awards ceremony for the winter sports season at Wayne Country Day.
The award winners were:
* Boys' swimming: Heart of a Champion -- Zan Pittman; Leadership Award -- Nolan Davis.
* Girls' swimming: Heart of a Champion -- Abby Skinner; Leadership Award -- Allison Bailey.
* Middle school boys' basketball: Coach's Award -- Will Fickling; Defensive Player-of-the-Year -- Nehemiya Shaw; Offensive Player-of-the-Year -- Tanner Willman; Most Improved -- Will McDonald.
* JV boys' basketball: Coach's Award -- Jack Talton; Most Improved -- Cooper Edmondson; Most Valuable Player -- Marcus Metcalf.
* JV girls' basketball: Defensive Player-of-the-Year -- Janae Jones; Offensive Player-of-the-Year -- Lexi Jeffreys; Coach's Award -- Kathryn Hamilton
* Varsity girls' basketball: Offensive Player-of-the-Year -- Lillian Freeman; Defensive Player-of-the-Year -- Kaitlyn Daniels; Coach's Award -- Rebecca Edmondson; MVP -- Lexi Jeffreys; CPIC All-Conference -- Freeman, Jeffreys, Janae Jones; CPIC honorable mention -- TT Ramsey.
* Varsity boys' basketball: Coach's Award -- Tony Townsend; Co-Offensive Player-of-the-Year -- Jamal King, DJ Waters; Defensive Player-of-the-Year -- PJ Hill; MVP -- Jamal Forde; CPIC All-Conference -- King, Waters, Forde; CPIC honorable mention -- Hill; N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association Class 1-A All-State team -- King.
