CHAPEL HILL -- Rosewood holds a slim four-point advantage over Lakewood in the Wells Fargo Conference Cup after winter competition in the Carolina 1-A Conference.

The Eagles took the "double" -- regular-season and tournament titles -- in both girls' basketball and wrestling. They recorded a top-four finish in boys' basketball, which gave them 58 points total.

Lakewood has 54 points after runner-up performances in girls' basketball and indoor track. Princeton is third with 48.5 points after its runner-up finish in girls' indoor track and third-place showing by its boys' indoor track squad.

The remainder of the league -- Hobbton (46.5 points), James Kenan (30), Neuse Charter (24), Spring Creek (23) and North Duplin (21).

North Lenoir holds a 30-point lead -- 390-360 -- over Greene Central in Eastern Carolina 2-A Conference action. The Hawks claimed the regular-season wrestling title and posted top-five finishes in girls' and boys' basketball. Greene Central had top-five efforts in boys' basketball, girls' basketball and wrestling.

South Lenoir ranks third with 335 points, followed by Ayden-Grifton (285), Goldsboro (240) and Kinston (235). Goldsboro and Kinston shared the regular-season title in boys' basketball. Kinston's girls won the regular-season crown, while Goldsboro ended up second.

Charles B. Aycock ranks fourth overall and is the top-performing 3-A school in the split-classification Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference. The Golden Falcons' wrestling team finished as the regular-season and tournament runners-up to New Bern.

Eastern Wayne is sixth overall with 25 points. Southern Wayne has 20.

The Wells Fargo Conference Cup is a companion to the Wells Fargo Cup and recognizes schools with the best overall interscholastic athletic performances within individual conferences. Wachovia, and now Wells Fargo, has sponsored the conference awards program since 1980.

Points are awarded based on participation and standings in conference play. Each conference determines its own method of awarding points.
