Ellis tallies 48 points, Bears roll past Saints

NEW BERN -- Rhysante' Ellis torched the nets for 48 points as New Bern opened its Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference season with a 105-87 triumph over Southern Wayne on Tuesday evening.
Ellis shot 20 of 34 from the floor and hit five 3-pointers.
Cole Atwood paced the Saints' offense with 18 points -- from behind the 3-point arc. Rakilen Butler contributed 15 points on five 3-pointers. Quentin Carlton scored 14 points, while Josh Graham knocked down 11 points.
Graham logged seven rebounds.
The Saints trailed 86-79 with four minutes left in regulation.
Southern Wayne is the guest of Charles B. Aycock on Thursday.
