WARSAW -- James Kenan's defense pitched a shutout for 46 1/2 minutes during its 46-8 triumph over county and Carolina 1-A Conference rival North Duplin on Friday evening.
The Rebels avoided the shutout on Emiliano Mora's 9-yard touchdown run with 1:25 remaining in the game. JP Payton ran in the two-point conversion.
Mora ended the night with 86 yards rushing on 16 attempts.
Payton completed one pass -- a 36-yard strike to Will Archer.
The Tigers, who tumbled to No. 5 in the latest Associated Press 1-A prep poll, have won three straight over the Rebels and 13 of the last 15 meetings since 1983.
JK leads the all-time series 27-7 since 1963.
North Duplin (2-5 overall, 0-2 CC) returns home Friday to face Rosewood. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at H.E. Grubbs Field.
