Princeton clinches share of Carolina 1A volleyball title

Princeton clinched the Carolina 1-A Conference regular-season championship outright with a 25-5, 25-18, 25-13 decision over North Duplin on Thursday afternoon.
The Bulldogs secured the No. 1 seed for the season-ending conference tournament, which begins Oct. 19.
Taylor Carroll had a team-leading eight kills and picked up three digs. Daisey Eklund (six kills), Kortney Edwards (four digs) and Beth Braswell (five aces) contributed to the straight-set win.
Taylor Walker, Maddie Swinson, Shaily McCarty and Elizabeth Thornton each had one kill for the Rebels. Rylee Pate handed four assists.
Walker recorded a team- and season-high 11 blocks. Thornton, Butler and McCarty registered five digs apiece defensively.
North Duplin (4-10 overall) fell to 3-7 in league play this season. Princeton (17-1 overall, 12-0 CC) visits Neuse Charter next Tuesday.
